National Popcorn Day - Best Popcorn Movies

National Popcorn Day - Best Popcorn Movies

Happy National Popcorn Day!

Although we are unable to go to the cinema and buy some popcorn (and a Tango Ice Blast of course!) from the snack stand, there’s nothing stopping us from having a movie night of our own! Microwave popcorn is just as good!

Hopefully 2021 will be the last year that we have to make do with movie nights at home and we can return to the cinemas once and for all.

In the meantime, to celebrate National Popcorn Day, the team at VU have put together a list of some great movies to sit and watch with a big bag of popcorn.

So grab your popcorn, get your cosies on and put a movie on to celebrate National Popcorn Day!

Here are our movie recommendations:

Harry Potter

It goes without saying that the best kind of movie to watch with an endless amount of snacks by your side is a lengthy movie. When we think of long movies, straight away Harry Potter comes to mind and what better way to start your movie marathon than with a trip to the Wizarding world!

From Philosophers Stone to Deathly Hallows, you have a choice of eight amazing movies to choose from! (Might want a few bags of popcorn for all of the family too!)

Avatar

You may need more than just a tub of popcorn to get you through this movie as it is three hours long BUT it is SOOOO worth it!

Avatar is one of those movies that will have you so engrossed to the screen that you will finish your bowl of popcorn without realising. It is a feast for the eyes and ears, with incredible visual effects and a great story. Definitely one to add to your movie list!

School of Rock

School Of Rock is a great feel-good comedy for everybody to enjoy - both kids and adults.

Get your inflatable guitars out and rock out with Jack Black. Just make sure that your popcorn is placed in a safe place as you don’t want to be knocking it over whilst your jamming out!

Jumanji (1995)

Jumanji is just one of those adventures movies that people of all ages are interested in. Forget the reboot for now, the original 1995 movie is guaranteed fun for the whole family.

Jurassic Park / Jurassic World

Popcorn is a must when watching this film. You may even need the bowl of popcorn to hide behind from all of the dinosaurs! If you loved Jurassic Park, then give Jurassic World a watch starring Guardians of the Galaxy star, Chris Pratt.

E.T

Did you really think that Stranger Things made riding around your street on bicycles trendy? You thought wrong! It’s time to educate the little ones in your family with this absolute timeless classic! There’s no better feeling than watching somebody experience E.T for the first time.

The Greatest Showman

An amazing film to watch with all the family, however you may not eat all of your popcorn as you’ll be too busy singing the soundtrack! Once you’ve eaten all of your popcorn, be prepared to dance around the living room to “ The Greatest Show” and “This Is Me”.

The Parent Trap

If we’re talking about the best Lindsay Lohan movie, then this is it. We could never get bored of this movie! Even when you’ve watched this movie enough times to recite it word by word, it’s still a great film to put on and eat all of the snacks.

From sibling rivalry and bonding to nostalgic summer vacations, it’s an absolute classic.

Toy Story

Has there ever been a movie more epic than Toy Story?! Whatever mood you are in, Toy Story is a great “go-to” movie! One for all the family to enjoy.

Back to the Future

For all your nostalgic needs, this is the film to watch!

Cheaper by the Dozen

This film screams chaos and we love it! The absolute legend that is Steve Martin plays the father of 12 children with a supporting cast featuring 2000s icons Hilary Duff and Alyson Stoner. A great family flick that outlines the chaos and tough love that comes with the large family life!

Night at the Museum

After watching this movie, you will be dying to visit your local Natural History Museum, and let us tell you this… Museum outings are far more thrilling post-screening. Also opens the door to a great history lesson for the kids!

 What will you be watching?
