In Our Movie Era - Movies to Look Forward to in Spring/Summer 2025! 🍿πŸŽ₯

There's a lot to look forward to at the cinema in 2025! From magical Disney reimaginings to new live actions, there's plenty to keep us all entertained over the next few months.

Here's what you can expect hitting the big screen between now and the end of June.

Disney’s Snow White

This ain’t 1937 anymore, but Snow White is still the fairest of them all.

From Greta Gerwig co-writing the screenplay to Rachel Zegler’s effortless and angelic voice, we have high hopes for this one! Reports say that this movie truly feels like a stroll through an enchanted forest. The visual effects create a world so reach-out-and-touch-it real, that we wouldn’t be surprised if a talking squirrel steals some of our popcorn.

With a mix of new songs and old classics, no Disney movie would be complete without an absolute anthem, and we can confirm that β€œWaiting On A Wish” will be your new go-to karaoke or singing in the shower song. We’re yet to see the movie but are already listening to the soundtrack on repeat!

Is this live-action remake what Walt would have wanted? We shall see!

Disney’s Snow White lands in cinemas worldwide on Friday 21st March. So don’t be a Dopey and miss seeing Disney’s first ever Disney princess brought to life on the big screen.

A Minecraft Movie

Fans of mobs, ores, and creepers already have the Minecraft movie adaptation on their calendars. Jack Black, known for his roles in School of Rock, Jumanji and The Super Mario Bros.Movie, is set to complete a kid-friendly video game franchise lineup. Joining him is Jason Momoa, who stars as Garrett β€œThe Garbage Man” Garrison.

In a world where anything can be created block by block, four individuals are unexpectedly pulled through a mysterious portal into a β€œcubic wonderland” fueled by imagination. Their only way back? Completing an epic quest with the guidance of Steve, an expert Minecraft crafter.

The fate of the Overworld hangs in the balance! The story sees four misfits - Garrett β€˜The Garbage Man’ Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) - sucked through a portal into the Overworld to team with Jack Black’s master crafter against Rachel House’s villainess.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts*

Antiheroes assemble! The 36th film in the MCU, Marvel’s Thunderbolts* will officially close out Phase 5 of the franchise, and from what we know so far, it sounds like Phase 5 will be going out with a bang.

Bringing together a group of antiheroes and reformed villains, Thunderbolts* centers on an unlikely team forced to unite against a threat far beyond any one of them.

Starring Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, among other returning anti-heroes, this Marvel Phase 5 film will see a group of misfits and traumatised individuals team up to prevent another potentially world-ending event from occurring in the MCU.

They may not be the Avengers, but they do pack a punch!

Release Date: 2nd May 2025

Disney’s Lilo & Stitch

Another Disney classic is getting a makeover, but this time it’s in the shape of an alien - a blue alien to be exact. Prepare yourself, because Stitch (not Lilo) is crash-landing on Earth this year. Following Snow White’s release in March, this reimagining of the beloved 2002 animated classic will make its theatrical debut on May 23rd.

Lilo and Stitch tells the story of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction. With nosy social workers and pursuing aliens banging on the door, the two bond over a shared sense of family and win the day. Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch in the original, reprises his role as the lovable experiment 626.

If Ohana still means family, make sure no one is left behind when going to see this movie.

Release Date: 23rd May 2025

How To Train Your Dragon

Snow White and Lilo & Stitch aren’t the only animated classics getting a live-action makeover in 2025. Few live-action adaptations have generated as much excitement as How to Train Your Dragon has since its announcement.

This highly anticipated film will revisit the beloved story from the first animated movie but with a new cast. Notably, Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Stoick the Vast, the fearless Viking leader - a character he originally voiced in all three animated installments of the franchise.

With stunning visuals, and a mix of heartfelt storytelling and thrilling action sequences, How to Train Your Dragon promises to introduce the magic of Berk and its dragons to a whole new generation while delighting long-time fans.

Disney Pixar’s Elio

Disney Pixar are going intergalactic for its newest original feature. The new sci-fi adventure centers around Elio, an alien-obsessed boy who accidentally becomes Earth’s ambassador.

Elio is already tipped as one of the most anticipated family films of 2025, and hopes are high that it will help the studio recapture its old magic with longtime Pixar writer Adrian Molina making his directorial debut.
