Disney's Snow White Movie Review🍎
Snow White enchants in Disney’s latest remake!Disney’s latest live-action Snow White reimagines the beloved fairy tale with a fresh twist while still capturing all the magic, charm, and wonder that made the original a classic.
A fresh take on the 1937 animation, this version of Snow White had the internet talking long before it hit the big screen. From the casting of Rachel Zegler as Snow White (which sparked similar conversations as Halle Bailey’s The Little Mermaid) to discussions about whether the dwarfs should be live-action or CGI, opinions were flying left and right. Disney even stepped in to clarify that Snow White’s name wasn’t about her skin tone but weather the snowstorm on the night she was born.
For those willing to embrace modern updates to a story that dates back over 200 years, and a film that debuted nearly 90 years ago, we’re pretty confident that you will enjoy watching the new movie.
Classic Disney with a Twist
The movie retains its more iconic elements: the kind-hearted princess, the evil stepmother, the magic mirror, and of course - that infamous poison apple. And because it’s Disney, you know they’re going to bring back the hits. Classic songs like Heigh-Ho, The Silly Song, and Whistle While You Work make an appearance, and if you listen closely, you might catch an instrumental nod to Someday My Prince Will Come.
“Who is the fairest of them all?” is a core element of the original folk tale and every version ever since. In this version, however, a young Snow White is taught by her parents to be fearless, brave, true, and fair - values so essential that they are engraved on her silver necklace. This Snow White cherishes kindness above all else.
Also, this Snow White is not just about waiting for a prince. She’s got big dreams of being a great leader, restoring her kingdom, and bringing people together.
Snow White’s “I Want” song, Waiting on a Wish, is peak Disney magic -so catchy we have had it on repeat before even watching the movie. And we have Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (the duo behind the music of The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen) to thank for another soundtrack of earworms.
Rachel Zegler’s Snow White Shines
Rachel Zegler does a great job balancing the old and the new. She wears the iconic yellow, blue, and red dress, but this Snow White is more than just sweet, she’s fearless, brave, true , and fair. She leads with her heart and isn’t afraid to stand up for what’s right.
And let’s talk about Gal Gadot. We’ve seen her as Wonder Woman, but here, she swaps her superhero cape for a villainous crown, playing the Evil Queen.
The Dwarfs (whether CGI or not - because yes that was a whole debate) may take some getting used to, but they bring heart to the film and remain an integral part of Snow White’s journey.
Final Thoughts
With all the controversy leading up to its release, we weren’t sure what to expect. But honestly? The negativity from people who hadn’t seen the movie just doesn’t hold up. This Snow White is a thoughtful, heartfelt, reimagining that stays true to the spirit of the original while giving it a modern refresh.
At its core, the story remains intact; it’s simply being told through a fresh perspective. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece, it doesn’t need to be.
It’s fun, it’s charming, and it brings just the right amount of nostalgia for those who grew up with the classic.
And best of all? This princess doesn’t sit around waiting to be rescued. She takes charge, proving that both male and female characters can be equals, working together to fight evil.
So if you love Disney, fairy tales, and musicals that give you goosebumps, this Snow White is definitely worth a watch. Just be warned - you may be humming the songs for days.
