What to watch on TV this weekend

With the weather forecast looking not so great (again) this weekend, it’s looking like another weekend sat in front of the TV, and to be honest we’re not mad about it.

Despite May being a very gloomy month, when it comes to new movie/TV releases it’s not so gloomy. From new releases on Disney + to the Eurovision Song Contest and cinemas reopening, we have the latest movie/TV releases for you as well as a guide on what to watch this weekend.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series - Season 2

Hands up if you loved High School Musical: The Musical: The Series???

Back in 2020, we binge watched Season 1 and became completely obsessed! From discovering Olivia Rodrigo’s incredible voice to reliving our childhood through the HSM classics, this series became an instant favourite. Yes, it is a little cheesy and cringey in parts, but we can’t help but love it!

When we heard that the exclusive series had signed off another season, we couldn’t wait! The first two episodes of Season 2 are now streaming exclusively on Disney +.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch

If you’re in need of something new from the galaxy, Star Wars:The Bad Batch is now available to watch on Disney +. Star Wars: The Bad Batch premiered on the streaming service on Star Wars Day (May the 4th).

In Star Wars: The Bad Batch, you will see Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair, and Echo return to take on brand new adventures.

The 'Bad Batch' of elite and experimental clones make their way through an ever-changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

The new original series is now available to stream, exclusively on Disney +

If you’re looking for something a little older? New (old) movies are being added to Disney + and Star every week. Today, Gulliver’s Travels (2010) is one of the latest additions to the streaming platform. If you love Jack Black, then you will love this film! Jack Black is larger than life in this epic comedy-adventure based on the classic tale.

This is not a drill, Anastasia is finally on Disney +, I repeat Anastasia is on Disney +! The moment we have been waiting for, for what feels like forever.

Growing up we adored Anastasia and we can’t wait to relive our childhood again. This is definitely on our watch list this weekend.

If you’re not signed up to Disney + or any streaming platforms, then no fear! There are plenty of great movies to watch on the TV this weekend.

If you have no plans this weekend, then get your snacks and blankets ready for a Saturday well spent cuddled up on the sofa watching some absolute classics on TV.

Not in the movie mood? Well this Saturday is a Saturday like no other because the Eurovision Song Contest is taking place! Last year, we missed out on the contest due to Coronavirus, so we’re extremely excited for the return of Eurovision this year! Fingers crossed the UK can make it to the left hand side of the leader board this year, we can dream right?

You can watch the Eurovision Song Contest Live on BBC One from 8pm.

This week has been an exciting week for many reasons! With lockdown easing, one of the things we have been most excited about is the reopening of cinemas! We have missed tucking into some popcorn and a Tango Ice blast and sinking into a cinema seat watching new movies.
