New Netflix/ Disney + releases for April 2022

So far, April has been a huge month for the streaming platforms with plenty of new and old TV shows and movies to choose from.

As we continue in April and into May, both Netflix and Disney + have got a whole lot of new films and TV series to keep us entertained for the next few weeks and beyond.

From The Kardashians and Selling Sunset to the premiere of Moon Knight and Polar Bear, here are just some of the new releases from Netflix and Disney + in April. 

Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood - April 1st

One of the first major new animated movies of 2022. Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood is a hybrid animated movie featuring the talents of Zachary Levi and Jack Black. The coming of age story is about a boy witnessing the historical Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969 Houston. 

Get Organised with the Home Edit - April 1st

The Bubble - April 1st

The Bubble is a new comedy about a group of actors and actresses stuck inside a pandemic bubble at a hotel attempting to complete a sequel to an action franchise film about flying dinosaurs.

Starring A-listers Leslie Mann, Karen Gillan, David Duchovny, Pedro Pascal and even a cameo from Benedict Cumberbatch himself. 

The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On - April 6th

If you loved Love is Blind, then no doubt you will become obsessed with this show. From the creators of Love is Blind comes this brand-new series - also hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey. The Ultimatum follows couples who are unsure about their relationships - so much so that they are willing to face an ultimatum - get married or split forever. 8 weeks and they must choose - commit to marriage, or move on. Sounds intriguing right?! We'll definitely be watching!

The In Between - April 8th

Did you love The Kissing Booth movies? Well this movie stars Elle herself, just not as Elle. Kissing Booth star Joey King stars in a new supernatural love story that centres around a teenage girl called Tessa, who after bouncing around in foster homes for most of her childhood, doesn't believe she deserves her own love story. This movie is sure to deliver the sentimental romance that you crave.

Metal Lords - April 8th

From the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and DB Weiss have created a new movie about two teenagers who get into heavy metal music and start a band of their own.

Hard Cell - April 12th 

Can you believe that it's been fifteen years since the final episode of The Catherine Tate Show aired? Well, it's been a very long 15 years but Catherine Tate is back!

Hard Cell is a new mockumentary set in prison (think Summer Heights High meets Orange Is The New Black), the show includes Catherine's usual offbeat and dark humour. Of course, Catherine plays more of the characters but we can also look forward to some cameos too. 

Russian Doll: Season 2 - April 20th 

When the first series of Russian Doll was released back in February 2019, it suddenly became one of the best TV shows of the year and now it's back!

Natasha Lyonne returns for season two of popular drama-comedy Russian Doll, which sees Natasha's character Nadia still stuck in a time loop. If you've watched Season 1 then you will know what we're on about. 

Selling Sunset: Season 5 - April 22nd 

Guess what's back - so soon too! If you're thinking what is Selling Sunset?! Selling Sunset is a reality series which follows the agents of The Oppenheim Group, which is the no.1 real estate agency in the Hollywood Hills and the Sunset Strip. Not that long ago, drama unfolded in Season 4 and we just couldn't get enough! Now Season 5 is here and explores the workplace romance between Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim. From today, like us, you can binge watch the new series and obsess over the drama once again.

We are SO ready for this new season and we can only hope that it provides us with the sun-kissed drama that the previous four seasons have given us. This new seasons also will see the introduction of new retailer, Chelsea Lazkani - so we can't wait to see what she has to bring to the Oppenheim Group.

Along for the Ride - April 22nd 

The summer before college, Auden meets the mysterious Eli, a fellow insomniac. While the seaside town of Colby sleeps, the two embark on a nightly quest to help Auden experience the fun, carefree teen life she never knew she wanted. Joey King stars.

Disney + isn't just a vault of old Disney classics, it's also the place for new + original tv series and movies. Here are just a few of the new releases that have been added to the streaming platform this month.

Moon Knight

For superhero fans, this one's for you. For those who are unfamiliar with the MCU's newest superhero, Oscar Isaac (yes, Poe from Star Wars) plays Steven Grant, a mild mannered gift shop employee who discovers that he has dissociative identity disorder. The result of this mental health condition means Steve has multiple personalities living inside of his head, including a ruthless mercenary called Marc Spector and a superpowered alter-ego called Moon Knight.

Better Nate Than Never- April 1st 

Disney is bringing back musicals with Better Nate Than Never. With dreams of starring on Broadway, Nate Foster, a middle schooler failing to land roles in school productions, sneaks away to New York City with his best friend with plans of auditioning for Broadway's adaption of Lilo and Stitch.

Scrat Tales - April 13th 

If you love Ice Age then you will love this new Disney + Original. This new comedy series consists of six animated shorts starring Scrat, the beloved sabre-toothed squirrel from Ice Age.

The Kardashians - April 14th 

And finally... Kris, Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie bring the cameras back to give truth to their stories, from the intense pressure of running billion-dollar businesses to the hilarious joys of playtime. Less than a year after Keeping Up With The Kardashians' 20-season run ended on US network E!, The Kardashians are back and have made their debut on the streaming platform. This series gives viewers an all access pass into their lives with a rivetingly honest story of love & life in the spotlight.
