As cinema ticket prices continue to rise, we know it can be tough to decide which films are worth your hard-earned money. With that in mind, here are the most anticipated movies to look forward to in 2025.
Captain America: Brave New World - 14th February
Phase Five of the MCU continues with Captain America: Brave New World as Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie), formerly the Falcon, takes over the Captain America mantle from Steve Rogers.
One of the most-anticipated movies of 2025, Brave New World marks the 35th film in the long-running MCU. A lot is riding on this movie, given that enthusiasm for the franchise’s superhero offerings - apart from Deadpool & Wolverine - has dipped over the last couple of years.
The trailer and the synopsis suggest that Captain America will find himself trying to thwart a major conspiracy that brings war to the doorstep of the United States. Adding to the tension, he’s not on good terms with Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (now played by Harrison Ford) , the new president of the country, who is later expected to become the rampaging Red Hulk.
There’s a lot riding on Anthony Mackie’s standalone debut as Cap.
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy - 14th February
Twenty-four years after Bridget Jones’ Diary (yes we can’t believe it either), Renee Zellweger returns in the fourth film in the series as middle-aged Bridget, with a different life but the same qualities that made her popular in the first place.
In Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, we find Bridget navigating life as a widow following the loss of her husband, Mark (played by Colin Firth). Now a mother of two young children, she leans on the support of close friends and even her former flame, Daniel. However, life takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself being wooed by a younger man - who also happens to be her children’s teacher.
Snow White Live Action - 21st March
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was a record-breaking success for Disney back in 1937, once holding the title of highest-grossing film with sound of all time. It was also the highest-grossing animated film for 55 years. So the stakes are high for Disney’s first Disney princess, who will be played by West Side Story breakout Rachel Zegler. Gal Gadot stars as the Evil Queen.
A Minecraft Movie - 4th April
Fans of mobs, ores and creepers already have the Minecraft movie adaptation on their calendars. Jack Black, known for his roles in Jumanji and The Super Mario Bros. Movie, is set to complete a kid-video-game franchise. Joining him is Jason Momoa, who stars as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison.
In a world where anything can be created block by block, four individuals are unexpectedly pulled through a mysterious portal into a “cubic wonderland” fueled by imagination. Their only way back? Completing an epic quest with the guidance of Steve, an expert Minecraft crafter.
Marvel’s Thunderbolts* - 2nd May
The 36th film in the MCU, Marvel’s Thunderbolts* will officially close out Phase 5 of the franchise. Fans can expect significant developments from this film, with potential impact on the future of the MCU.
Bringing together a group of antiheroes and reformed villains, Thunderbolts centers on an unlikely team forced to unite against a threat far beyond any one of them. Together, they’ll prove that true strength lies in numbers, introducing a fresh and dynamic team dynamic to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Florence Pugh takes center stage as Yelena Belova, a highly skilled assassin who joins forces with a group of antiheroes for the American government. They may not be the Avengers, but they do pack a punch!
Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning - 21st May
Is this the end of Ethan Hunt? After a year’s delay, The Final Reckoning will FINALLY be hitting the big screen, also with a name change.
Tom Cruise returns for potentially one final go as the leader of Impossible Mission Force, the secret espionage team tasked with saving the world again and again. Shot back to back with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, the story continues Ethan Hunt’s mission to retrieve a key from a sunken Russian stealth submarine that can unlock an advanced AI before his enemies get their hands on it. In his attempt to battle his biggest foe of all: artificial intelligence, Hunt will be joined by Mission Impossible regulars like Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby, as well as newcomer Hannah Waddingham in an undisclosed role..
Could The Final Reckoning be the last film in the long-running Mission Impossible franchise? I’m guessing we will find out on the 21st of May.
Lilo & Stitch Live Action - 23rd May
Another Disney classic is getting a makeover, but this time it’s in the shape of an alien, a blue alien to be exact. Prepare yourself, Lilo & Stitch are crash-landing on Earth in 2025. What we do know is that Disney will be sticking to the original movie outline and that some of the talent from the original animated movie are returning for the live-action.
If Ohana still means family, make sure no one is left behind when going to see this movie.
How to Train Your Dragon - 13th June
Snow White and Lilo & Stitch aren’t the only animated classics getting a live-action makeover in 2025. Few live-action adaptations have generated as much excitement as How to Train Your Dragon has since its announcement.
This highly anticipated film will revisit the beloved story from the first animated movie but with a new cast. Notably, Gerard Butler will reprise his role as Stoick the Vast, the fearless Viking leader - a character he originally voiced in all three animated installments of the franchise.
With stunning visuals, and a mix of heartfelt storytelling and thrilling action sequences, How to Train Your Dragon promises to introduce the magic of Berk and its dragons to a whole new generation while delighting long-time fans.

Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind".
Superman: Legacy - 11th July
The stakes are high for the Man of Steel. Set to bring a fresh perspective to the iconic superhero with a fresh take on the Man of Steel’s origin story.
Superman is set to be the first movie of the DCU - the rebooted DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and the most talked about DC movie of 2025.. The plot details are under wraps but it is said to be inspired by the comic book All-Star Superman (2005-2008). Expect appearances from fan favourites Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, Metamorpho and more.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps - 25th July
First Steps kicks off Phase Six of the MCU as the third film of 2025. Set in the 1960s, the Fantastic Four must defend Earth from Galactus, a planet-devouring entity. Pedro Pascal will make his on-screen MCU debut as Mister Fantastic, alongside Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Joining them is Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, the female version of Silver Surfer in the comic book, marking the character’s live–action theatrical debut.

The first part of the epic big-screen musical adaptation of Wicked hit the big screen at the end of 2024. Now, with just a 10-month wait, the highly anticipated climactic installment arrives in November, bringing the second act of the beloved stage play to the big screen.
