Can you believe that it's nearly been 20 years since Peppa Pig was first brought to life? If you are a parent reading this, can you imagine a life without Peppa Pig? Because I don't think we can!
Since gracing our screens in 2004, Peppa Pig has become a global sensation. With over 7 seasons, video games, merchandise and even her own theme park, Peppa has become a household name all over the world. She has captivated millions of pre-schoolers and little kids with her delightfully British humour and charm and continues to entertain nearly 20 years later.
Kids love her, parents... not so much!
With still being one of the most beloved British cartoons ever made, we wanted to share some fun Peppa facts with you to share with your little Peppa Pig fans!
Peppa Pig was created by three friends
Two out of work animators, Neville Astley and Mark Baker came up with the idea of Peppa, then brought on their buddy Phil Davies as a producer. When they first tried to get the show commissioned, nobody was interested. Now look at Peppa!
Peppa Pig is an Aries
Did you know that Peppa Pig’s birthday is on April 12th? Meaning her zodiac sign is an Aries. No wonder she loves chocolate so much with her birthday being so close to Easter!
Meet the Pig family pets
Peppa’s family pet is Goldie the Goldfish and Grandpa and Granny Pig have a pet parrot called Polly. Granny Pig also has three chickens called Jemima, Sarah, and Vanessa. She also has a cockerel called Neville. They love to eat Grandpa Pig’s lettuce!
Peppa has a lot of favourite things!
Peppa’s favourite things include playing games, dressing up, visiting her friends and family, and of course, jumping in muddy puddles!
George’s best friend is Rebecca Rabbit’s little brother, Richard Rabbit
They both love dinosaurs but hate to share and cry a lot when they play together. That’s what best friends do right?!
Daddy Pig has many talents
Daddy Pig is very good at diving, playing football with the local team AND is a champion muddy puddle jumper. Pretty impressive for someone who doesn’t like to exercise.
Peppa loves her Grandparents
Grandparents play an important role in Peppa’s life. Grandpa Pig loves sailing and gardening and Granny Pig is always baking delicious treats for Peppa and George.
Happy Mrs. Chicken is Peppa’s favourite game
Peppa and George love to play the video game “Happy Mrs. Chicken” on the computer. It appears to be a maths computer game.
Miss Rabbit Received An Award From The Queen
Miss Rabbit has so many different jobs that she received an award from the Queen! She runs the ice cream stall, the recycling centre, the library, drives the train and the fire engine. She’s also a taxi driver, shopkeeper, and even comes to the rescue in her red helicopter! You know you’re a star when the Queen watches Peppa Pig with her grandkids!
Peppa and her family are jet setters
Peppa and her family have been on a trip to Paris to climb the Eiffel Tower and have also been on holiday to Australia where they go surfing and see the Great Barrier Reef.
Madame Gazelle is a rockstar!
Madame Gazelle is a French-English speaking gazelle who runs the playgroup that Peppa and her friends attend but did you know that she was in a rock band called the Rocking Gazelles with her sisters!
Peppa has a pen pal!
Peppa has a pen pal called Delphine Donkey who is French. Peppa loves receiving mail and runs to the door anytime she sees the postman.
There are two Peppa Pig theme parks
Following the success of the show, there are now two themed Peppa Pig theme parks. Peppa Pig World is in Hampshire, England and features rides with all of the popular characters and Peppa Pig Land is located in Italy.
