National Superhero Day is celebrated on the 28th April every year. This year, in 2024, National Superhero Day falls on Sunday 28th April.

So to celebrate, let's talk superheroes!

And not just any superheroes... only the best of the best, Marvel's Avengers.

Now you're probably wondering, how could we possibly pick our top 10 moments from the Avengers movies when there are just SO many?!

BUT with great power comes great responsibility right?!

Since the release of Iron Man in 2008, the MCU has evolved to over 30 movies, a dozen television shows and so much more. With more than 30 movies in the catalogue now, it's due time to recognise some of the best scenes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

From the Avengers assembling to Thanos' shock snap, join us in revisiting some of the best Marvel scenes over the years.

Nick Fury's Offer (Iron Man - 2008)

This was the moment that proved Marvel fans should never walk out of the cinema until the very final credits have rolled. 

"You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet." One of the shortest but most significant scenes in Marvel history. Little did we know, this was the start of something much much bigger.

The Avengers Assemble For The First Time (The Avengers - 2012)

From the music to the 360 degree swing around, there's just something about seeing our favourite heroes come together that just hits.

We couldn't write about our favourite Marvel moments without mentioning the very first time the most high-profile superheroes of all time came together to fight the Chitauri. Seeing Black Widow, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man and Hawkeye assemble in New York, is a sweeping shot that we will remember forever.

Groot Sacrifices Himself To Save His Family (Guardians of the Galaxy - 2014)

Guardians of the Galaxy saw a group of misfits meet up and become not only a team, but a family. They fought, argued (just like any family) and ended up saving the world. Now I don't know about you, but Groot stole our hearts from the very second on screen. The first Guardians of the Galaxy movie saw the Guardians continually bickering and embracing each other (rarely) as a team, however, it was Groot's sacrifice and "We are Groot!" that pulled at our heartstrings even more. Such a devastating but special moment.

The Elevator Escape (Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 2014)

Nobody puts Captain America in a corner. In just fives minutes, Cap beats up 10 would-be assailants in an elevator cage match, smashes through a window to escape S.H.I.E.L.D's headquarters, falls 30 floors, commandeers a motorcycle and single-handedly takes down a fight plane with a shield and his bare hands. Impressive just doesn't cut it. 

Airport Battle (Captain America: Civil War - 2016)

When Captain America and Iron Man go head to head against each other at the Leipzig/Halle Airport, it is a bitter pill to swallow BUT the action sequences that come out of this conflict are out of this world. From never-seen-before character interactions to the introduction to everyone's friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, the airport battle is a sight to behold forever.

The Blip (Avengers: Infinity War - 2018) 

The cliffhanger ending that no one saw coming. Marvel might be known for its action and badass superheroes, but it also knows how to deliver a knockout emotional blow too. This one hurt (but is still iconic). There's just no words to describe the feeling of seeing your favourite characters just vanish, without any real guarantee to see them again.

Thor vs Thanos (Avengers: Infinity War - 2018)

Now if you're a Marvel fan then you'll know that Infinity War was jam-packed with memorable, tragic, and funny moments BUT seeing Thor step up from being in no shape to fight was truly iconic. Watching him acquire the ax Stormbreaker and fight for the fate of the infinity stones had us gasping. It was clear Thor would either kill Thanos or die trying. What a hero.

Avengers Assemble (Avengers: Endgame - 2019)

From Captain America's "Avengers Assemble" and Tony Stark hugging Peter Parker to the ladies joining forces, we couldn't talk about our favourite Marvel moments without mentioning this one.

Iron Man's Snap (Avengers: Endgame - 2019)

Hands up if you're still crying, because we are. Thanos claimed he was inevitable, only for Tony Stark to declare "I Am Iron Man" before performing the final snap to destroy Thanos and his army. The ultimate act of selflessness was the perfect way to send off Iron Man, despite it being devastating to watch.

As tragic as it was to watch, after seeing Tony find happiness in his personal life, it's difficult to argue the importance of his death when looking at his overall story and journey as Iron Man. 

The Spider-Men Get Together (Spider-Man: No Way Home - 2021)

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield AND Tom Holland together in their Spidey suits - name a more iconic moment. A meme that became a reality.
